Well, it depends on the day of the week.  Some days Gary is busy with his career, which consists of two jobs – one at the Trussville Cracker Barrel and another at Tracy’s Cafe in Crestline Village.

But on other days Gary can be found doing the work that he and his family have turned into a business – making homemade honey and soap.  Of course, as Gary says, “We don’t make the honey, the bees do that!  We just extract the honey.”

Gary and his family began attending bee meetings at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens in 2010.  Eventually, they were able to purchase bees, begin raising them, and the rest is history!

Now Gary has added soap-making to the family business.  “My mom went to a bee convention and bought some soap she really liked.  She ordered the books and we figured out how to make that too!”  Gary’s soaps include Lavender, Lavender Lemon, and Rose.

Want to support Gary?  Gary will have his honey and soap available at Triumph’s Open House and Art Show on Thursday, May 7th, at 5:30 PM at the Triumph Office.
